Bat Surveys

Acoustic and roost surveys to identify the species present and how they use a site, to national guidance and lender requirements.

Overview

Bat surveys identify which species are present and how they use a site, whether for roosting, commuting or foraging. They are often commissioned on their own for energy, infrastructure and land-use projects, where bats are protected or sensitive to change.

Bat Surveys

How we approach it

We combine static acoustic detectors left in place across the season with roost inspections and emergence surveys, designed around the habitats and structures on site. Acoustic data are processed on NatureCube, and specialists review every identification. Survey effort follows national guidance and lender requirements.

What we deliver

  • Survey design to national guidance and lender requirements
  • Static and transect acoustic surveys across the active season
  • Roost inspections and emergence surveys of trees and structures
  • Expert-verified species identifications
  • Activity patterns by species, location and season
  • Advice on avoidance, mitigation, licensing and monitoring

What you receive

A report and verified dataset showing which species use the site and how, with practical recommendations for design and mitigation.

When you need it

Use this before works that affect trees, buildings or other structures, for wind energy projects, or when bats are a priority species under a lender standard.
