Sensor Development

Bespoke sensors for ecological monitoring, combining acoustic and camera hardware with IoT and satellite connectivity, designed around your site, target species and data needs.

Overview

Off-the-shelf monitoring hardware doesn't always fit the site, the species or the question. We design and build bespoke sensors for ecological monitoring, combining acoustic and camera hardware with IoT and satellite connectivity, so data arrive from the field reliably, wherever the site is.

Sensor Development

How we approach it

We start with the monitoring question: which species or signals matter, where the sensor has to sit, how long it must run, and how quickly the data are needed. From there we choose the sensing hardware, power and enclosure, and the right link back to base: local storage for remote deployments, IoT networks where there is coverage, or satellite where there is none. Prototypes are tested in the field before wider rollout, and every sensor feeds straight into NatureCube, where AI and our ecologists turn detections into evidence.

What we deliver

  • Requirements set by the target species, habitat and monitoring question
  • Acoustic and camera sensor design, including on-device detection where it saves power or bandwidth
  • IoT and satellite connectivity for near real-time data from remote sites
  • Power, enclosure and mounting designed for long deployments in tough conditions
  • Field testing and refinement before wider rollout
  • Integration with NatureCube, so sensor data are reviewed and reported alongside your other surveys

What you receive

Sensors built and tested for your site, a data pipeline from the field to NatureCube, and documentation so your team can deploy, maintain and scale the network.

When you need it

Use this when standard camera traps or acoustic recorders can't meet the site, species or timing, when data are needed faster than manual retrieval allows, or when a monitoring programme needs to scale across many remote sites.
