E&S Due Diligence

Environmental and social reviews against the IFC Performance Standards to identify risks and decision points.

Overview

Environmental and social due diligence tells lenders, investors and project teams which issues matter under the IFC Performance Standards, and which can wait. It is used at concept stage, at acquisition or before financial close, when a commitment would otherwise rest on incomplete evidence.

How we approach it

Okala reviews the project or portfolio against the environmental and social topics that are likely to be material. The output is short on purpose: risks, gaps, and the decisions that should be made before a full assessment or investment proceeds.

What we deliver

  • A structured review against IFC Performance Standards 1 to 8, or the lender standard that applies
  • A view of material risks, information gaps and likely decision points
  • Recommendations on what to assess next, and at what depth
  • A note on which issues are unlikely to need further work
  • An output project, sustainability and investment teams can read together

What you receive

You receive a due diligence note that is explicit about uncertainty. It is a decision tool, not a substitute for a later assessment where one is needed.

When you need it

Use due diligence when a site, supplier or investment is being considered and you need to know where the environmental effort should go first.
